This book provides everything you need to build TWO arches:

1. A Flat Arch which introduces the idea of the arch and gives rise to a bridge simple model; and 

2. A Roman Arch which revolutionised architecture - its influence was felt for centuries.

This practical approach gives a great insight into how an arch works. Notes in the MiniBook provide background historical knowledge and ideas for further research. For teachers, there are some free downloadable worksheets should they wish to link the model making activity with other parts of the curriculum, such as mathematics and history. A useful discussion can be had as to why and in which circumstances the flat arch might be favoured over a Roman arch.
